#10 in Our Summer of Organized Travel -Coming Home

Finally, our Summer of Organized Travel is over and it's time to go home.

The last and least enjoyed part of the trip...unpacking. Your suitcase is full of great memories, and dirty laundry. Don't leave it sitting in the corner haunting you. Unpack as soon as you get home. Get everything out and sorted. Your day to day things returned to their homes. It really only takes a few minutes and you will feel so much better knowing that step is done.

#9 on our Summer of Organized Travel - Organization while you are away

Plan ahead when you are traveling. Think about some of the home organization tasks that you can have done while you are away. This is where a professional organizer comes in. Literally. I'll come to your home and organize while you are away. We will meet before your trip to identify areas that need organization and create a plan. You go on your trip. I go to your house. You come home to an organized space!

#8 on our Summer of Organized Travel is the backpack.

Just like that baby sitting two rows behind you having a hissy fit, adults can get fussy while traveling. Make sure you pack yourself snacks and something you enjoy–books or magazines or brain teasers. Be sure to charge your tablet and download some movies from Netflix. Also remember to pack your earbuds. Traveling should be an adventure; think about the time as a break from work and email to indulge in some hobbies you love.

Thanks to The Spruce Blog for the awesome tips.

#6 in our Summer of Organized Travel, The Travel Journal

Bring along a travel journal as a catch all to capture, store and display those little mementos and keepsakes you collect on a trip. My friend did this on a trip to Italy. When she got home, she took that journal and mementos to create a scrapbook of her trip. Think: address cards, matchbooks, receipts from memorable meals, museum tickets, and more. You can also jot down notes you'd like to remember.

#5 in Our Summer of Organized Travel -The Carryon

#5 in our Summer of Organized Travel is fitting everything into one suitcase.

Nothing says ease like a rolling suitcase. Think about bringing one carry-on and then a personal item like a handbag or backpack for the items you'll use in-flight. This will save you time in the baggage claim and keep things simple while you travel. Nothing says "tourist" like a giant stack of suitcases on the curb outside the hotel. Not to mention they're a pain in the rear end to wrangle.
